How Can I Have My Very Own Personal Resort?

Do you recall as a child hearing that a person’s home was their “castle?" That was over 30 years ago for me, and things have evolved significantly through the past three decades. With the prospect of the Personal Resorts, much has changed. Clients can build their dream specific to the needs and desires of their own family in every way. You really can make every day a vacation from in your own home!

How to Be a Great Design Client

There is always a lot of talk about how to get new clients, how to better serve our clients and how to make the project go more smoothly from the designer’s point of view. But from the clients point of view, how can clients be the best that they can be to make the project successful?

The Craft of Architecture

As a society living in a digital age, we are losing our connection to hand-built things. As architects, the buildings we design tend to use systemized construction methods that erase any marks of the maker.

Builders seem interchangeable—the thought being that any competent contractor can follow a set of drawings to create the same perfect surfaces and spaces. However, it is this lack of human character that causes many people to dislike contemporary architecture. Compared to a house built in the Colonial era—in which everything from the trim to the floorboards is marked by the craftsperson’s signature, the tools he/she used, the care that was taken to put things together—a sleek, modern home may feel cold and even inauthentic.
